Metering Contestability Changes

Due to changes in the national electricity rules, from 1 December 2017, retailers are responsible for installing all new and replacement electricity meters in South Australia.

All new or replaced meters are required to meet a new minimum standard, with increased functionality compared to traditional meters.

To assist with understanding these changes, SA Power Networks have published an Electrical Contractor Handbook, as well as a range of other resources. The Electrical Contractor Handbook is available here: https://www.sapowernetworks.com.au/public/download.jsp?id=310859

Members can log in to the Technical Knowledge Base and access the Electrical Contractor Handbook, along with some additional information on the metering changes, and a range of other technical information and Australian Standards.
