NECA’s March Toolbox Talk has just been released, and this month we focus on risks and regulations surrounding Chemicals and Toxic Substances in our industry.
Some of the Toxic Substances covered in this toolbox talk include:

Asbestos: A known carcinogen, capable of causing life-threatening diseases.

Lead: A toxic metal that can damage the nervous system and cause blood and brain disorders.

PCB's (Polychlorinated Biphenyls): Chemical compounds that pose environmental and health risks.

Silica: is a mineral that when inhaled as dust, can cause lung diseases including silicosis or cancer.

Refrigerants: Substances that, apart from their environmental impact, can cause asphyxiation or fire hazards when handled improperly.

Chemicals: A broad category where risks range from burns to poisoning, contingent on the substance's nature and its interaction with our bodies.
