There have been calls for Standards in Australia to keep up to date with changing Technologies and to that end, Standards Australia have delivered with Standards for solar panels and Inverters as well as working hard on projects like Battery Storage.

Most new technologies have an effect on the Electricity Grid throughout Australia which is under the watchful eye of Energy Networks Australia (ENA). One of the main threats to the new technological Network Grid is Cyber Security.

Both Standards Australia and ENA have been working together to address this threat and after much consultation throughout Australia, have produced a Roadmap for Standards and Grid Cyber Security.

Key outcomes of the Roadmap include:

• The proposed development of standards and similar documents to support grid cyber security in Australia, including workforce screening;
• Continued involvement from Australia on key international standards committees to enhance our voice in regards to grid cybersecurity; and
• Ensuring the Australian Technical Committees developing the standards have the right membership and are operating with the most appropriate terms of reference.
