New Rules on Interconnecting Multiple Smoke Alarms

NECA advises members that the Building Code now says that when installing multiple smoke detectors they have to be interconnected from 1 May 2014.

The provisions for interconnecting smoke alarms are contained under part 3.7.2 2 (d) page 311 under Volume 2 of the National Construction Code (BCA Volume 2) Class 1 & 10 buildings & Specifications E2.2 (a) 3 (c) & 9d) of Volume 1 of the NCC (BCA Volume 1) Class 2-9 buildings.

These requirements should apply nationally unless the individual state has applied for a variation to the provision.
