Licence renewal reminders going digital in ACT from 1 February 2017

Just a brief reminder to NECA members based in the ACT that from 1 February 2017 construction occupation licence holders will receive licence renewal notifications digitally – by SMS and email – as opposed to the current renewal notifications by physical mail.

To this end, licence holders can provide their mobile phone number and email address here on the Access Canberra website.

Towards the end of last year, the ACT government requested that licence holders provide their SMS and email details by 19 December 2016.

Given this tight timeframe, we have subsequently confirmed with Access Canberra that:

  • Most licensees have already provided this information;

  • All licence holders whose licence expires in January 2017 have been provided with paper renewal notices; and

  • There will be no penalty for failing to comply with the timeframe identified in the letter.

We would however encourage members who have not already provided their mobile phone number and email address to do so here on the Access Canberra website, in order to help ensure that licence renewal notifications are received.
