Ausgrid Pause On Live Work Meeting

NECA is working hard to engage government and regulators on your behalf, and we will provide regular updates on this work.

NECA is seriously concerned about Ausgrid’s decision to put a pause on live work and is urgently engaging a range of stakeholders to have the action reversed.

We are aware of the major problems this is causing members and the knock-on effect it will have on the wider construction industry.

  • On Thursday afternoon, 6 June, we had a teleconference with Ausgrid’s COO Trevor Armstrong to express members’ frustrations in the strongest terms. Key points of the call:
    • We secured a commitment from Ausgrid to outline a timetable for its review into live work by Thursday 13 June when we will meet in person.
    • Ausgrid is reviewing its Electrical Rules, and there may be changes which will affect how ASPs work.
    • NECA and its members will be involved in discussions about any rule changes.
    • Ausgrid will provide information on how ASPs can progress risk assessments on paused projects during the meeting on Thursday 13 June.
  • We are meeting the new NSW Energy and Environment Minister Matt Kean’s Deputy Chief of Staff to raise our concerns.
  • We are engaging media to bring this matter to wider attention.

A meeting is being held for Level 1 ASPs on Friday 14 June on the Central Coast. Register now to attend
