ATO App - your smart device just got smarter

If you have a smart phone or tablet, meeting your tax obligations just got even easier.

Individual taxpayers no longer need to keep paper records – the latest upgrade to the ATOs free app can do it all for you.

The ATOs Steve Vesperman says that means you can complete your next tax return anywhere, anytime.

“Our app’s myDeductions tool allows you to record tax deductible expenditure like your work-related expenses, gifts and donations.

“You can also record and manage your work-related car trips using point-to-point which uses Google maps, or keep an electronic logbook.

“This also means next Tax Time you can upload your deduction records to us and we will pre-fill your myTax return for you.

“If you use a tax agent, the same information will be available to them to complete your tax return.

“And you can watch our video on how to use myDeductions at ato.gov.au/myDeductions

Steve says the app allows you to check the progress of your return, work out how much tax you can expect to have withheld from your pay and check on your super.

“You can also use the app to access our online services for individuals, view your notices of assessment and account balances, make a payment, update your details and much more.

“Later this year you will be able to use your voiceprint to make logging onto our online services via our app quicker and easier.

“If you have not downloaded our free app or want to upgrade your app to include the latest features, go to Google Play, Windows Phone Store or the Apple App Store.”
