Accessing George Street for Commercial Drivers

George Street is now closed to traffic between King Street and Market street.

Only vehicles servicing the Mid City Centre, Dymocks or Myer/Westfield/Swisshotel loading docks are permitted to enter the block, access is controlled. You must approach and enter the block from King Street as there is no access from Market Street.

One tip that may help commercial drivers is that the southern lane of King Street, between York Street and George Street, now has yellow markings (see photo). If you are attempting to access the dock, pull into this marked lane with your right indicator turned on.

When you get to George Street, the traffic controller will come to you and ask where you are going. If you are going to one of those docks they will ask you to wait while pedestrian traffic clears and they move the cone to let you in.

If you are not going to one of those docks you will not be allowed in. You can find more information and maps here - http://mysydney.nsw.gov.au/guides/commercial-drivers.

As you can see in the photo below, there is loading space on that southern side of King Street between 8:00pm and 6:00am on weekdays.

Please remember to drive safely and slowly as pedestrians become used to the new arrangements.

Feel free to send us your feedback about your experiences driving in the CBD.
