This month's Risk Focus program focuses on risks and regulations surrounding Chemicals and Toxic Substances in our industry.

Some of the Toxic Substances covered in this toolbox talk include: 

Asbestos: A known carcinogen, capable of causing life-threatening diseases. 

Lead: A toxic metal that can damage the nervous system and cause blood and brain disorders. 

PCB's (Polychlorinated Biphenyls): Chemical compounds that pose environmental and health risks. 

Silica: a mineral that when inhaled as dust, can cause lung diseases including silicosis or cancer. 

Refrigerants: Substances that, apart from their environmental impact, can cause asphyxiation or fire hazards when handled improperly. 

Chemicals: A broad category where risks range from burns to poisoning, contingent on the substance's nature and its interaction with our bodies.
