Tasmanian Budget 2022-23

We congratulate the Tasmanian Government on its 2022-23 State Budget, delivered on 26 May 2022 by the Deputy Premier and Treasurer, the Hon Michael Ferguson MP.
 
Oliver Judd, NECA CEO, said:
“NECA had the pleasure of meeting with the Deputy Premier in the lead up to the budget and are pleased to see that the 2022-23 budget goes a long way to making a more workable and constructive industry. “We look forward to continued collaboration with the Tasmanian Government, supporting future training and employment opportunities for the sector.”
 
Some of the key announcements include:
• $5 in million additional funding for the (now) $26 million TasTAFE Water and Energy Trades Centre of Excellence; NECA is committed to working with the Tasmanian Government to lift the skills of those entering the sector
• A $150 million investment in Digital Health Transformation projects to improve patient care will enable the development of a statewide integrated platform to dramatically improve communications and data sharing
• $8 million for electrical switchboard upgrades in schools
• Extension of the Payroll Tax Rebate Scheme until 30 June 2024, providing tax relief to businesses which employ apprentices, trainees, and youth employees
• $500,000 for the Tasmanian Mark Certification Scheme to support local business.
Renewable energy initiatives, including the solar panels schools program, implementation of the Renewable Energy Coordination Framework, and the transition of the Government’s fleet to electric vehicles
