Time Off instead of Paid Overtime
26th August 2016
In a decision handed down by the Fair Work Commission on 8 July 2016 a new time off in lieu (TOIL) clause was inserted into 72 modern awards, including the Electrical, Electronic Communications and Contracting Award 2010.
The new clause 26.7 is in effect as of 22 August 2016 and provides as follows:

New Wage Bulletins

For those employers covered by the Electrical, Electronic and Communications Contracting Award 2010 and the Clerks – Private Sector Award 2010, the minimum wage rates and allowances have increased, effective from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2016.

Government Funding for Apprentice Employers

The Australia government is committed in supporting the development of National Skills Needs List occupations (NSNL).
There are financial incentives and benefits available for electrical contractors who are thinking or currently employing an apprentice. Employers and apprentices must satisfy the eligibility criteria in order to access the financial incentives and benefits.
New Safety Standards for Non-Compliant Hoverboard Accessories
28th June 2016
From July, all suppliers of self-balancing scooters, known as hoverboards, will be subjected to safety requirements same as those applied to refrigerators and heaters, to ensure the batteries, power supply and the unit are compatible.
