NECA welcomes Tasmanian trade training boost

The National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) has welcomed news of Government investment of $7 Million to establish the Tasmanian Trades and Water Centre of Excellence.

Once complete, the ideally located TasTAFE site at Clarence will include new on-site accommodation and purpose-built workshops equipped with the latest technology, ready to train the next generation of electrical contractors.

“NECA welcomes this investment in Tasmania’s trades and in particular, for Tasmania’s electrical apprentices,” said CEO, Suresh Manickam.

“We have been calling upon the Government to create this Centre of Excellence by upgrading and renewing the existing facility at Clarence and we’re pleased that the Government is listening to industry.”

“The Tasmanian Trades and Water Centre of Excellence will enhance the present capacity as well as cater for new jobs and growth across the electrical contracting sector – all of which will benefit Tasmania,” Mr Manickam said.
