NECA SA and NECA NT Amalgamation

We are very pleased to announce that the NECA SA and NECA NT Chapters have merged to create a new NECA SA/NT Chapter.

This amalgamation of the two Chapters has been the subject of much discussion over the past few years principally because the NT Chapter had not been actually operating which has raised questions from the Fair Work Commission in relation to the constitutional coverage of the Territory by NECA.  The lack of activity and existence of an operating Chapter has also provided little assistance in our goal of delivering appropriate products and services to electrical contractors in the Territory and therefore increasing the NECA membership.

The creation of the new Chapter was formally approved by the Fair Work Commission on the 16th of December 2016.

This amalgamation is consistent with other industry stakeholders such as manufacturers and wholesalers who generally have common management structures and effective operating models that include South Australia and the Northern Territory.

We are extremely confident that the establishment of a new combined Chapter will provide the same representation, products and services to electrical contractors in the Northern Territory that is enjoyed by contractors in every other state and territory of Australia.

It is our intention to make a concerted effort in 2017 to grow the membership in the Territory including the provision of local representation and advocacy as soon as practicable.

Best regards
