JobKeeper Changes Begin 28 September 2020
JobKeeper 2.0 Begins Monday
The JobKeeper Scheme has been extended from 28 September 2020 until 28 March 2021; however the extension has come with a variety of changes.
To be eligible for JobKeeper in the 28 September 2020 to 3 January 2021 quarter an employer needs to show that actual GST turnover has declined in the September 2020 quarter relative to a comparable period (generally the corresponding quarter in 2019). The rates of the JobKeeper payment for this period are lowered to $1,200 per fortnight (before tax) for Tier 1 employees and $750 per fortnight (before tax) for Tier 2 employees.
Employers that are no longer eligible for JobKeeper can no longer make JobKeeper enabling directions under the Fair Work Act 2009 – unless the employer qualifies as a ‘legacy employer.’ Legacy employers can make directions under the legislation at a reduced capacity.
