Tasmania takes a bold step for the electrical contracting industry
Earlier this week the Hon. Guy Barnett met with Tasmanian electricians at the Department of Justice and NECA launch of the Tasmanian Continuous Professional Development Program (CPD) in Launceston and Hobart. This new initiative – which came into effect on 1 July 2016, is designed to influence electrical regulatory compliance in a rapidly evolving industry.
The events this week were the first in the series, and the next event will be in the Burnie/Devonport area in November.

The response from the 350 attendees (almost 10% of the registered electricians in Tasmania) was extremely positive. “It is clear that the industry is ready for this initiative, and our Q&A got some very important issues on the table,” said NECA CEO Mr Suresh Manickam. ”The building industry is facing many challenges and this development is definitely a step in the right direction,” he added.
These events are free of charge and attendance will earn 2 CPD points. NECA Membership also can earn 1 CPD point per year.
