NECA welcomes Federal Government Budget which puts Australia on path to recovery

The National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) today welcomed the Federal Government’s Budget as providing a path to recovery driven by a generation of highly-skilled apprentices.

Lise Sperling, NECA Head of Policy and Government Relations, said:

“This Federal Budget is forward thinking, with a focus on our next generation, supporting skills and business that will protect livelihoods, create jobs and set Australia on a strong path towards recovery.

“NECA has long called for more support for training and skills, as well as measures that allow businesses to compete on a level playing field. The COVID pandemic has accelerated the need for these reforms – and what’s been noteworthy, is how the Federal Government has responded.

“The policy platform they have put in place will create a generation of highly-skilled apprentices who will be critical in rebuilding the economy and creating an Australia that continues to outperform on the international stage.

“As our recent survey of the electrical and communications industry shows, the economic recovery hangs in the balance and we are working in an incredibly complex and uncertain environment. NECA is looking forward to continuing our work with government as it implements these important measures and strives to restore confidence through a range of measures that will support both businesses and individuals.”
