NECA Pre-Budget Submission calls for range of measures to support business and rebuild the economy

The National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) today published its Pre-Budget Submission, which calls for the Federal Government to introduce a range of measures that would support electrical contractors as well as the wider economy.

Suresh Manickam, CEO of NECA, said:

“Our Submission is a cornerstone of our advocacy work and this is our most comprehensive yet.

“Given the economic uncertainty brought by COVID, it is now more important than ever for government to support businesses, so we are well-positioned as we emerge from the crisis.”

The Pre-Budget Submission includes 13 recommendations across four key themes:

  • Jump-starting Small Business
  • Unlocking Infrastructure and Super-charging business
  • Taxation and Regulatory System Reform
  • Energising the Future

“The crisis is a huge challenge for each and every one of us, but it also brings an opportunity for lasting reform and we want to see significant changes to tax and regulatory policy which will deliver for the Australian economy long into the future.

“Our Pre-Budget Submission builds on our recent Industry Impact Survey and includes many of the measures proposed in our Four Point Plan.

“We will now be engaging government to present our proposals and work together to achieve reforms that will put the electrical contracting industry on a strong-footing.”

The National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) is the peak industry body for Australia’s electrical and communications contracting industry, which employs more than 165,000 workers and delivers an annual turnover in excess of $23 billion. It represents the interests of over 5,400 electrical contracting businesses across all Australian States and Territories.

NECA’s Pre-Budget Submission, which outlines a series of policy measures that would stimulate the economy, support business and protect jobs, can be seen here.
