The ACT government is currently conducting a consultation on the ACT’s building industry regulatory regime.

The discussion paper and accompanying survey to the consultation may be found here.

Some of the issues covered in the consultation are very relevant to NECA members, including:

• Licensing of builders and building surveyors;

• Retention trust money account legislation;

• Security of payment;

• Alternative dispute resolution; and

• Phoenix companies.

NECA will be making a submission on behalf of our ACT members.

Given the importance of the issues raised, we would encourage members to read the discussion paper and contact Adam Spivakovsky, Policy Advisor, with any feedback they have.
