ACT Budget 2016/17 - Pre Budget Submission
In NECAs Pre-budget submission, we call on the government on behalf of our members to prioritise the following areas for funding in the ACT’s 2016/17 Budget:
-
Addressing the significant dangers posed by non-conforming products through rigorous batch testing;
-
The establishment of a new RTO in the ACT for the training of electrical apprentices;
-
Improving vocational education and training generally in the ACT, including the allocation of funds for mentoring electrotechnology apprentices in order to ensure high quality completion rates of apprentices;
-
School and entry requirements, including flexible timetabling for pre-apprenticeships and financial assistance to RTOs and GTOs who undertake pre-apprenticeship programs for industry entrants;
-
Reducing the taxation burden thereby increasing the incentives for businesses to employ additional staff; and
-
Facilitating energy efficiency and safety through the piloting of a scheme for hybrid power generation.
The Pre-budget submission has been sent to the ACT government as part of their consultation on the 2016/17 Budget.
